Richard Birch provides his Placepot perm for Beverley

Bomb Proof should live up to his name in the first leg (12.45). He won a novice at York last May on his sole start, and even run-of-the-mill Knavesmire form should prove a cut above what you’d expect in a similar race at Beverley.

Two sprinters with solid recent runs to their name, Bal Mal and Harbour Point, should be included in leg two (1.15).

Both have favourable low draws, and Bal Mal will be suited by the return to 5f over which he pounced late at Wolverhampton in February.

Bal Mal’s stablemate Airflow seems sure to go close in the third leg (1.45). The colt will appreciate the step up to 7f after getting tapped for toe over 6f at Pontefract.

Le Chiffre is just the type with whom David O’Meara will place to best advantage this season, and should be included alongside Falconidae in leg four (2.15).

I also like O’Meara’s Manzo Duro in leg five (2.45), while it may be best to side with the Newmarket fillies Lightness and Golden Pass in the concluding leg (3.15).
