Richard Birch pinpoints two bankers in his Sedgefield Placepot perm

Magna Moralia, a 74-rated performer on the Flat, looks just the type who will benefit from the switch to hurdling, and should be included for leg one (1.50) of the Sedgefield Placepot along with the David Pipe-trained Sans Logique.

Young Lieutenant’s latest season petered out rather tamely, but he underwent wind surgery in the summer and is expected to prove a totally different proposition away from heavy ground. He gets the vote for leg two (2.25).

The step back up to 2m5f and return to Sedgefield, scene of his commanding all-the-way victory last month, should see Lovely Schtuff in a better light than when well beaten over 2m1f at Kelso behind Kiruna Peak.

He appeals in a tricky leg three (3.00) along with Honourmission, who was by no means disgraced at Uttoxeter two outings ago and likes this track.

The Blame Game and Lively Citizen, two bang-in-form runners, merit inclusion in leg four (3.35), while Honourary Gift and low-weighted My Renaissance are the pair to concentrate on in the fifth leg (4.10).

To Fly Free has the appearance of a potential ‘handicap good thing’ in leg six (4.45), and can hopefully prove the clincher.
