Richard Birch aims to crack Placepot for intriguing Newcastle card

Credit: Edward Whitaker

Pax Britannica arrives on a roll, having landed all-weather handicaps at Wolverhampton and Chelmsford in great style.

She gets in off bottom weight in leg one (2.50) of the Newcastle Placepot and should improve again for the step up to 2m.

Course winner Bobba Tee remains fairly treated and provides excellent back-up.

Traveller has recorded Newcastle form figures of 3111243 on his last seven visits, and should make another bold bid in leg two (3.25) with the step back up in trip capable of unlocking further progress.

George Ridsdale holds a class edge over his rivals in leg three (3.55). If he under-performs for any reason, the lightly raced Sky Power can take advantage.

Movin Time and Mithras, who both hail from top Newmarket yards, pick themselves in leg four (4.25), while the John Gosden-trained Miss Finland catches the eye in leg five (4.55).

Gosden makes a habit of introducing useful juveniles at Newcastle, and this Invincible Spirit filly is a half-sister to Queen Anne Stakes runner-up Terebellum.

Vision Of Victory, who shaped promisingly over course and distance last month, also merits inclusion.

Great Colaci, who has Newcastle form figures of 416213 since late September, can continue his consistent run in leg six (5.25).
