Clonmel stages its big day of the year, and while good ground has led to some small fields, there is some competitive and high class action on offer, including in the Grade 2 Clonmel Oil Chase (2.10).

There are some heavy showers forecast, and that is unlikely to be welcomed by connections and supporters of likely favourite Alelchi Inois, who deserves to land a good race after his Galway Plate second, plus his effort in Grade 1 company in Italy back in September. Rain is a negative for him though and he could struggle to hold off the challenge of his former stablemate Outlander.

Now with Gordon Elliott, the son of Stowaway was a nearly horse last season as a novice, with narrow failures in Grade 1s at Fairyhouse and Punchestown as well as falling when travelling well in the JLT Novices' Chase at Cheltenham.
