'Racing Pulse is the one we fancy - he stays and loves the mud'

Peter Bowen, trainer of Berea Boru and Buachaill Alainn
Berea Boru might run in the Welsh National trial at Chepstow next week and he looks really good. He's had a wind op over the summer and we worked him this morning and he went pretty well. He'll definitely run in the Welsh National and the race should be ideal for him. Buachaill Alainn might run as well, but we'll see how he goes as he's been quite busy. He would possibly go straight there, but Berea Boru would definitely be my number one pick.

Paul Nicholls, trainer of Arpege D'Alene, Saphir Du Rheu, Southfield Theatre, Unioniste, Vicente, Virak and Vivaldi Collonges
Arpege doesn't run this weekend and could be one for it if the ground wasn't too bad. I haven't decided if he'd go straight there, but I've always thought he'd be one for a staying trip. Saphir runs in the Hennessy and we won't make plans for him until after that. If it's very soft it's unlikely Southfield Theatre will run, but Unioniste could. I haven't decided if he'll go straight there and he could have a run around before. He's been a bit out of form, but hasn't had his ground yet. Vicente runs at Newbury on Saturday or at Aintree the following week. He's a possible, but he's one who doesn't want the ground too deep. Virak will run at Newcastle on Saturday and could well end up running at Chepstow as well, while Vivaldi Collonges could go to Chepstow for the trial next week and is another possible. It's a long way off, but the race could suit Arpege D'Alene, Unioniste, Virak and Vivaldi Collonges.

Ross O'Sullivan, trainer of Baie Des Iles
The long-term target for her is the Welsh National. She runs over hurdles on Sunday and ideally we will run her over hurdles again before the Welsh National, maybe three weeks before the race. She loves a stamina test, soft ground and she is a good jumper. She is only five years of age, and obviously you would like to get another year into her, but she is French bred and has been jumping fences since she was three. All going well, we will have her there in top form.
