I've been banging on all week about this Victoria Cup contender - I couldn't believe he was 20-1

How did last weekend go for you both?

David Jennings: Poorly. Field Of Gold was my main play in the 2,000 Guineas. That hurt. And, there wasn't much else to write home about elsewhere either.

Johnny Dineen: It was a good weekend thanks to Desert Flower, my only racing play on Sunday. Would you believe I actually diversified out to the game of snooker for the World Championship Final and went with my hunch that the younger man Zhao Xintong had to have a huge freshness edge over Mark Williams. The old adages of time waiting for no man and young fellows get better and old lads get worse sprang to mind when this clash was about to take place, so I got stuck in. It was over early, too, and definitely the day's rest the younger man was afforded played a big part in his early dominance. Anyway, that’s in the past and it will be another while before I venture away from racing again for a bet, despite this successful sojourn.

Who wins the Lingfield Derby Trial?

Johnny: Some of these Classic trials look very watery affairs and I have not seen anything from any of these so-called Classic preps that would keep me awake if I had a stake in something else that has yet to be unleashed this season. Aidan O'Brien sends two to Lingfield and I must admit I am quite surprised Ryan Moore has chosen to ride Puppet Master rather than Stay True. I actually thought the latter was a near certainty in this event, but obviously the jockey bookings puts a real dampener on that train of thought so I just have to sit on my hands and let the race pass me by. The other five runners look nowhere near being top-level horses, but I’d have Puppet Master in that category, too, although it looks like I may well have underestimated him. I was going to go for Stay True, but it has to be a watching brief now.
