Robbie Wilders' play of the day at Beverley

Carolus Magnus
Carolus Magnus reached a BHA mark of 90 at the peak of his powers for Andrew Balding in the 2022 season and, although he is winless in 13 starts for Michael and David Easterby, there have been some moments of promise.
The seven-year-old was an eyecatcher in a competitive big-field 7f handicap at York on Yorkshire Cup day last season, meeting in-running trouble after a tardy start, and backed that up with another decent effort on the Knavesmire eight days later, beating 12 rivals in finishing sixth.
He is chucked in off a mark of 66 if even recapturing the spark of either of those two performances, and this is comfortably the weakest raced he has contested. If Carolus Magnus is ready to do himself justice after the best part of a year off, he should be going close under Joanna Mason.
