Richard Birch's play of the day at Pontefract

Missmimi
Missmimi, winner of two of her last six starts, makes plenty of appeal in Pontefract’s 6f handicap under 8st 7lb.
Tina Jackson’s five-year-old has never been better, as she demonstrated over course and distance two starts ago.
A well-backed 9-4 favourite, she unleashed a smart turn of foot on officially good to soft ground to beat Roundhay Park by a length. She was value for more than the official margin suggests.
Missmimi also scored over 5f at Pontefract in July – again showing a good burst of finishing speed up the hill – and is arguably unlucky not to be unbeaten in three starts at the West Yorkshire track.
Joanna Mason momentarily lost her left iron at a crucial stage when Missmimi finished fourth to Betweenthesticks on her only other visit in August.
Missmimi is just 3lb higher than when recording her latest Pontefract success and a mark of 56 doesn't look beyond her at the mare’s favourite track.
