Aintree day 2 tips: Paul Kealy's best bet at the Grand National festival

Dan Skelton's Madara has a very obvious chance in the Randox Topham Handicap Chase, given how much in hand he had when winning the Plate at Cheltenham, and it could well be Graded races for him next season.

However, Cheltenham was very much Plan A, and I have a feeling Aintree was the main target for stablemate Boombawn, who looks a decent second string.

There was never any chance of Harry Skelton deserting Madara, but Boombawn, far from disgraced in ninth in the Plate, has some excellent form to his name on the other courses at Aintree when the ground has been on the good side, which is what he wants.

He won a handicap hurdle there earlier in his career, was beaten only three and a half lengths in a Grade 1 novice chase at this meeting last year (first three were Impaire Et Passe, Gidleigh Park and Jango Baie), and was also a close fourth in this season's Old Roan.

He's now rated 7lb lower and should go well.
