Oviedo was rated 105 when with Ed Bethell but races off a mark of just 91 on his second start for Alex Dunn in the 1m4f handicap (5.02) at Leicester.

Oviedo has totally lost his form since finishing fourth of 34 in the Cambridgeshire a couple of years ago, but must have had problems and Dunn gave her new acquisition wind surgery before his stable debut at Goodwood in August. He finished last, but probably needed the run.

That was over a shorter trip than this, following 11 months off the track, and connections will almost certainly expect to see a lot more from the 55,000gns purchase now that run is under his belt.

It takes a leap of faith to stick with him, but going up to this distance might help him find his form.
