This is only a maiden and there are plenty who could prove useful, but Classic couldn't have made a more eyecatching debut when a close fourth at Newbury a couple of weeks ago.

Having missed the kick, he was held up at the rear and had to wait a couple of times for a run, and was then only tenderly handled as he was still green.

Had he been a bit more streetwise he'd have won easily, and the form received a boost when the well-beaten fifth won at Salisbury on Thursday night.
