Paul Kealy's play of the day at Cheltenham
This Fergal O'Brien-trained grey is well worth another chance to show how well handicapped he is in the 2m handicap.
Rated as high as 151 after his run at the Paddy Power meeting two years ago when he looked set to toy with Eldorado Allen before coming down two out, he has dropped to a mark of just 135.
There are reasons for that and it's fair to say he has disappointed more often than not over fences, but Gumball showed he retains every ounce of ability when running second on the Flat in September, and he was subsequently very well backed to make a winning return to fences the following month at the same track.
There he looked to have breezed into second place approaching the home turn, but cut out quickly, and it's no surprise he was given a wind op just a few days later.
If it has worked then he is, by some margin, the best-handicapped horse in the race.
