Paul Kealy's play of the day at Cheltenham
Padleyourowncanoe ran only five times last season after being out for over a year, and just two of those runs came over hurdles.
The first was a perfectly respectable third at odds of 40-1 on his return, and while he was slightly below par when eighth of 17 in a Grade 3 handicap at Sandown afterwards, the handicapper has dropped him 12lb on the strength of some poor chase form.
Now down to a mark of 123, he'd nearly win here on the form of the Sandown run let alone his season-opening return, and he's surely been primed for this.
He has been fourth in a Fred Winter and was eighth off 142 to Sire Du Berlais in the 2019 Pertemps Final, so he has decent course form, and good ground is not going to be a worry.
