Paul Kealy provides his Tote Placepot perm for a trappy small-field Ascot card

Credit: Edward Whitaker

There are plenty of small fields to deal with for those looking at the Ascot Placepot, but that doesn't include the first leg (12.45).

is an outsider I like, but a more solid proposition is heavy ground winner , who shaped nicely when third to Castle Robin at Cheltenham on his return and can improve on that.

In the next (1.20) will be ridiculously unlucky to come up against two as good as Star Gate, who beat him at Chepstow last time, so he looks a banker.

I'm not convinced about Mack The Man in leg three (1.55) and the two obvious ones against him are and .

Llandinabo Lad is the one to beat in leg four (2.30), but he had a hard race at Haydock and is penalised, so I'll go with and , who have solid bumper form in deep ground at the track.

The two favourites can be taken on in the fifth (3.05) as Pic D'Orhy's jumping is a worry, as is the form of Fiddlerontheroof's yard.

Go instead with Supreme fifth on his chasing debut and outsider .

In the last (3.35) I'll look no further than , whose comfortable Chepstow win has worked out nicely.
