Paul Kealy expects well-treated handicapper to bounce back in ground he likes

Credit: Edward Whitaker

1.20 Plumpton
1pt win at 8-1Black Abbey was a winner in the French provinces on soft ground and his best two runs as a hurdler came at this time last year on similar surfaces when he was second to Manucci (now rated 124) at Fontwell and to Beat Box (117) at Newcastle.

The handicap mark he was awarded then (119) wasn't particularly generous, but he has run four times in a row on good or quicker since and has now dropped to just 104.

He'd have been top weight for this by some margin at the start of the season, and now he gets his conditions with Jonjo O'Neill on for the first time. He's worth chancing to bounce back to form.
