Parliamentarian took an age to find his stride under James Doyle in the 1m6f handicap at Sandown, but he did so just in time to collar long-time leader St Michel after trading at 36 in running on Betfair. The runner-up was done at 1.17.

On Her Toes also traded at 36 in the Listed race at the Esher venue, but that looked too big as she was never far away and had the race in the bag 150 yards out.

The 90 matched on Kilcascan in the second division of the 2m7f handicap chase at Worcester was also on the high side. Although his jockey appeared to take things a shade too easy close home, he still had a head to spare over fast-finishing favourite Wiffy Chatsby (1.13).
