O'Brien runners key in treasure hunt

Aidan O'Brien appears to hold many of the most significant clues for punters chasing the €50,000-guaranteed Super Pick 6 at the Curragh today. The Ballydoyle trainer is heavily involved in the three Pattern races on the card, and runs three in a maiden involving 14 unraced juveniles.

The Group 3 Royal Whip (3.45) provides the clash of the day between O'Brien's Derby second US Army Ranger and Dermot Weld's top-class five-year-old Fascinating Rock, returning to the scene of his Tattersalls Gold Cup triumph in May. There is little merit in being dogmatic, and the safe option is to include the pair.

O'Brien supplies three of the nine in the Group 2 Debutante Stakes (4.15). The dilemma here is that Seamie Heffernan has deserted Brave Anna, whom he rode to win the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot, to partner Rhododendron, a Goodwood maiden winner since finishing second to one of today's rivals, the Michael Halford-trained Rehana, on her debut. Heffernan's decision looks significant enough to make the Galileo filly one of the day's bankers.
