Nottingham feature appears tricky so best to have most bases covered

The key to the Nottingham Placepot is the conditions stakes (1.30) because all four runners can be given a chance and it will probably knock out half of the perms.

My advice would be to include all bar Fountain Cross, who might not stay the trip, and to incorporate Golden Flame, Love Is Golden and Percy's Lad. It's best to take some chances elsewhere otherwise the bet is going to get too big.

Aaddeey is a banker in the novice stakes (2.40) and Modmin in the mile handicap (2.05) can be relied on. The latter could hardly fail to win a bad race at Goodwood last time but he clocked a good time and remains open to plenty of improvement.

Similar sentiments apply to Licit, who looks sure to relish the step up to 1m6f in the second division of the apprentice handicap (3.50).

The first division (3.15) looks tougher and Herman Hesse is going to be popular after his easy Catterick win last time. He is the safe choice but I would include Nietzsche too as he's pretty classy on his day and looked on the way back last time.

The hardest leg to get through might be the nursery (1.00).

Nicely bred, Fablis is the obvious one but he might be too popular given he only won a Chepstow novice last time and instead I would take a chance on Encourage, who ran well at Kempton this month and Mojandil, who has been crying out for a step up to a mile plus.
