No silver lining for Cardinal backers

There was a thrilling finish to the 2m1/2f handicap chase at Worcester, as No No Cardinal almost pulled off a remarkable rally on the run-in after going a couple of lengths down to Lined With Silver. As it was, he came up just short after trading at 1.03 on Betfair. The winner was backed at 38.

With so many front-runners winning at Chester it was no surprise to see Masham Star backed down to 1.31 after blasting off in the 7f handicap, but he was readily reeled in by Mutawatheb, who was never far off the pace yet was matched at a high-looking 13.5.

It was hard work, but Cape Caster finally consented to go past Today Please (1.03) in the 2m handicap chase at Worcester after trading at 50.
