Newmarket Placepot tips: Graeme Rodway with his selections for the ITV action

With so many juvenile races on the card, the Newmarket Placepot will be tricky but that might mean the dividend is juicy, especially as the bulk of the action will be on ITV.

The 7f nursery (1.10) has an open look, but American Star looks the right favourite. He must go into the perm and it’s also worth including the John and Thady Gosden-trained Altraif.

Hafit might prove best of the Godolphin pair in the Zetland Stakes (1.45) and the Aidan O’Brien-trained Bluegrass could also run well. He looks a certain stayer over this 1m2f.

Imperial Fighter was second in the Acomb at York and is the Autumn Stakes (2.20) selection.

The Darley Dewhurst Stakes (2.55) is a cracking contest and the two market leaders stand out. Native Trail won the National Stakes well last time and Bayside Boy is equally exciting.

Only four places are available in the 34-runner Cesarewitch (3.35). Calling The Wind stays well and was unlucky not to win at Newbury last time. Snowalot is an interesting outsider.

Gellhorn finished a good second behind the reopposing Gale Force Maya last time and should go well in the Boadicea Stakes (4.10). The consistent Bimble looks next best.
