Newbury Placepot picks: Paul Kealy has a crack at the card

After Paul Nicholls said Grivetana had been slow to come to hand, she might be worth leaving out of consideration in leg one of Newbury's Placepot (12.50).

Instead, the consistent Long Stay and Jack's A Legend, not badly treated on last season's third here to I Am Maximus, are preferred.

In the next (1.20) the three with decent bumper form are Boom Boom, Hansard and Lock Out, with preference for the first named.

Nicky Henderson is not yet in top form, but Boom Boom, placed twice behind the useful Leave Of Absence and improving a deal on his second start, can give him a third win in this race in six years.

In the third (1.55) Nicholls' Huelgoat is on a roll, but having been on the go all summer you wonder whether rain-softened ground will suit.

There are a few from in-form stables against him and Git Maker and Whydah Gally are preferred.

Point winner She's A Saint should make it 2-2 over hurdles in the next (2.30), but the featured handicap hurdle (3.05) is much tougher.

I've rarely trusted Didtheyleaveuoutto from a win perspective, but he was second in this race last year and is well treated, so he goes in with main pick Annual Invictus.

That just leaves a competitive handicap chase to finish (3.42), with the selections Striking A Pose and Java Point.
