Nap of the day: the best horse racing tips from the day's seven meetings on Thursday, October 2

Bellewstown

4.45: Arcland

This could be a good opportunity for ARCLAND who had been running well on the Flat before getting off the mark over timber last time and slower ground won't be an issue for him. Last time out winner Maxwell Smart goes well at this venue (second here yesterday) and will be a threat if he handles conditions. Bhean Saibhre has a tough draw to overcome but could be in the mix for the places after a promising run on her latest Flat start.

7.45: Parish Councillor

Several possibilities but PARISH COUNCILLOR is in such good form that it's hard to take him on with confidence, even with a penalty. Meet Me In Meraki is second choice, though Extrication is interesting and Beta Reader looks well worth another try over this trip.

Clonmel

5.00: Ocean Of Mercy

Lightly raced OCEAN OF MERCY has returned from a hefty absence in red hot form, comfortably winning a maiden hurdle and his beginners' chase debut latest when Ho My Lord was 7.5l behind. There is likely more improvement to come from Paul Hennesy's nine-year-old. There wasn't much between What's Up Darling and Donnie Devito when they met at Galway off level weights and they should be closely matched again. Ambitious Fellow also deserves respect.

Newcastle

4.55: Coedana

Most of these probably have more to offer. Arkinthestars might get an easy lead and is respected, while Team Player (second choice) is proving progressive for Gemma Tutty and looks a player again. However, it was hard not to be impressed with COEDANA last time and she is taken to complete the hat-trick. Kingmaker and Sibling Rivelry also need a good second look.

4.35: Crowd Quake

Most bring serious interest but CROWD QUAKE looks set to put up yet another bold show, bidding for his eighth win of the season. The very early interference he suffered on his latest start forgives that run and he had the call for most of the closing stages at Doncaster the time before only to be pipped by the unexposed favourite. Double Red may have his quirks but he's found how to win and impressed where it mattered last time, so he is feared most, ahead of Nightsinwhitesatin.

Salisbury

4.20: Another Abbot

The William Haggas-trained ANOTHER ABBOT is a 3yo on the up and is taken to make it 3-4 over 6f. Five visits to Salisbury have yielded three wins from Under The Twilight and she may be the chief danger now back on good ground, having not quite seen it out on heavy going over C&D last time. Wheels Of Fire had excuses last time and is next on the list, while Rock Iguana is an interesting handicap debutant.

4.40: An Bradan Feasa

Heather Honey was very much on a roll over 2m7f in the spring and may not have reached her ceiling yet but preference is for AN BRADAN FEASA, who still looks well handicapped after last month's 2m Worcester win. \bAslukgoes\p has a point to prove after running poorly on his handicap debut but, if judged on bumper form, could still have considerable potential over hurdles.
