Nap of the day: the best horse racing tips from the day's seven meetings on Friday, May 16

Top selections across the cards in Britain and Ireland

York

4.15: Against The Wind

This is fiercely competitive and set to be well run with a spread of pace across the track. Acrisius travelled so strongly on his reappearance that he has to command respect, while Cape Sovereign and handicap newcomers Elouise's Prince, Just King High and Sudden Flight are also of some interest. Oisin Orr rides Mearall but Loom (second choice) appeals most of the Fahey contingent following his promising return to action at Newmarket and the return to 5f looks sure to suit. He can win handicaps off his mark but Against The Wind (nap) looked one to keep on the right side of when winning at Thirsk on his return and he can take the 6lb rise in his stride.

Newbury

1.55: My Ambition

The vote goes to My Ambition (nap), who is the sole course winner in the field and is about to hit peak form judged on his two efforts this term. Steadily progressive Newfangled is second choice, ahead of last year's third Darvel.

Newmarket

5.15: My Mate Kev

Camera Shy (second choice) and Dapper Guest made good late headway in the same Windsor race last time and need shortlisting, though they wouldn't want to be too far back here on entering the Dip. Preference is for My Mate Kev (nap), who gave it a good go from the front at Doncaster and he's effectively 7lb lower here courtesy of his rider's claim.

Kilbeggan

6.00: Rapparee Champ

Providing he has suffered no lasting effects from a fall at Punchestown last November, Rapparee Champ (nap) has good credentials for this based on his Limerick second behind a subsequent Grade 2 winner. Likely dangers are Costacurta and Kasanova's Dream, both once-raced and from a top stable. Couldntmakeitup also makes some appeal.

Leopardstown

5.40: Senna's Girl

Highly tried last year, Senna's Girl (nap) was just denied back in maiden company at Gowran last month when finishing with a real flourish over 7f, and upped in trip here can confirm that form with both Hopes Are High and Dahoma. Banner Beauty would be a threat to all if reappearing in the sort of form he showed here last October for a previous yard.

6.55: Sail Away

This can go to Sail Away (nap), who is only 2lb higher than when keeping on well to go close in a series final in March, is suited by this C&D and can be excused last month's defeat on soft ground. Finn Lough has done pretty well since headgear was added and is second choice. The class act in the line-up is Fantastic Lady, who will be very dangerous off her current mark if back on song, but she comes with risk attached, having stopped quickly on her penultimate appearance and reportedly finished distressed last time.

Hamilton

8.25: Bay Dream Believer

Hostelry (second choice) has been running well under Kaiya Fraser lately and another big run seems likely, but preference is for Bay Dream Believer (nap), who was back off her last winning mark when runner-up at Ripon a week ago. She is 1lb well in following that performance. We Still Believe and Jumeira Vision are others for the shortlist.
