Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's six meetings

Selections from Ascot, Gowran Park, Haydock, Huntingdon and elsewhere

Saturday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team

Ascot

1.30:Martha Brae

Impressive when scoring in a big field at Exeter on her first start for Dan Skelton, Martha Brae can follow up under Bridget Andrews. The same trainer-jockey combination took this race 12 months ago with Robin Gold. The hat-trick-seeking Shantou Sunset is respected but the chief threat may come from Coded Message, finally back to her last winning mark and representing a stable whose horses have been running well.
Richard O'Brien

Gowran Park

12.30: Shes Some Doll

Difficult to look beyond Shes Some Doll, who has plenty in her favour and shaped well last time at Thurles. Expect Banjo and Handsworth to be thereabouts, while Secret Cargo has solid enough credentials in an ordinary race too.
Mark Boylan

Haydock

3.35: Strictlyadancer

The progressive seven-year-old Strictlyadancer can land the hat-trick having won competitive handicaps at Cheltenham this autumn. The unexposed Empire Steel showed plenty of promise during last season's novice chase campaign and is second choice.
Ben Hutton

Huntingdon

2.33: Heart Of A Lion

The Alan King-trained Heart Of A Lion won well enough at Ludlow to believe he can follow up off a 6lb higher mark. Rookie Trainer looks well treated on his hurdle form and is second best, ahead of Corran Cross.
Alistair Jones

Lingfield

11.35: One Last Dance

The class-dropping The First King and Marion's Boy, who won a division of this race last year, both have something to recommend them while course-specialist Noble Peace can never be left out of calculations around here, but three-year-olds have held sway in this contest in recent years and they can strike again courtesy of One Last Dance. Richard Hughes's filly only just failed to get up in a much better race than this at Wolverhampton last time and there is no reason why she shouldn't handle this surface.
David Bellingham

Wolverhampton

4.30: End Zone

Peintre D'Etoiles and State Secretary are unexposed three-year-olds with the potential to do better but the pair to appeal most are Jewel Maker and End Zone. The former drops in grade off a dangerous mark but End Zone is thriving on Tapeta of late and his latest close Newcastle third was backed up by the clock.
Paul Smith
