Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's six meetings
Doncaster, Epsom, Chepstow, Chelmsford, Southwell and Laytown fancies
Thursday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team
Chelmsford
7.05: Phantasy Mac
It wouldn't be at all surprising to see Phantasy Mac go in again despite her getting even higher in the weights. Irresistable comes with risks on a few counts but she's still feared most, as All Go doesn't look strikingly well treated for her first handicap.
Alistair Jones
Chepstow
1.50: Destiny's Spirit
Most of these have plenty to prove but Destiny's Spirit got her act together with an all-the-way win in a C&D nursery ten days ago. That was a narrow success but she battled well to beat the two market leaders and is a big player again under a penalty with an in-form claimer booked. The pick of the opposition could be Urban Dandy, who is a half-brother to three slow-ground winners and could show a lot more now switched to a nursery after a gelding operation.
David Moon
Doncaster
3.45: Zainalarab
Although this is harder than the Sandown handicap Zainalarab
won last time he was far from all out to come from last to first and a 5lb rise looks to underestimate his superiority. Second choice is Admiral D who won't be inconvenienced should the ground go soft, boasts some solid 6f handicap form this summer and was quite a bit better than his seventh-place finish suggests when returned to 7f at Thirsk last time. The low-mileage Spirit Of Nguru completes the shortlist.
Andrew Sheret
Epsom
4.00: Sly Madam
It makes sense to strike while the iron is hot with Sly Madam and she can defy a penalty for winning in good style here last week.
Painless Potter also has a penalty but it's debatable what he achieved in that Chepstow novice and the danger could be Maysong, for all that he's high in the weights.
Alistair Jones
Laytown
5.55: Praying Mantis
This looks like a good opportunity for Praying Mantis to land the hat-trick. She posted a career best when dropped back to this trip at Gowran last time and she arrives in better form than most of her rivals. Long-standing maiden Lion Ring might be the main danger after a return to form last time and Guessthebill is the type to bounce back from a below par run when last seen.
Phill Anderson
Southwell
7.15: Swiss Ace
Street Kid may confirm Lingfield placings with Ffion and Brunel Charm and he is high on the list, while Buckshaw Village and Star Zinc are interesting among the 3yos. Swiss Ace bolted up on his last AW run, though, and he should appreciate the return to Tapeta.
