Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's six meetings

Friday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team

Dundalk

7.00: State Occasion

Improving at a rate of knots on the turf, State Occasion (nap) can take the step up in grade here, having previously shown she handles an AW surface and, unlike many of her rivals, is racing over her optimum trip. In a strong renewal for this Listed (formerly Group 3) contest, major threats look to be Aikhal, Cairde Go Deo and last year's winner Bear Story.
Alan Hewison

Haydock

1.30: Rogue Spirit

This is easier than the nursery Rogue Spirit(nap) contested at York last time and he's well handicapped on his third at Chester the time before. Al Dasim also has a bit of class about him and is second choice, ahead of Kuwait City.
Alistair Jones

Listowel

1.40: The Short Go

Having been a non-runner here on Wednesday on unsuitably good ground, the forecast rain can tip the balance in the favour of The Short Go (nap), whose form reads well in this context. He does need to settle, though. The Willie Mullins pair of Spread Boss Ted and Kottayam are dangers, along with Dawn Rising.
Tyrone Molloy

Newcastle

8.15: Ramon Di Loria

Newmarket raiders Verreaux Eagle and Al Ameen have claims on this year's best, while Glorious Rio, Bond Power, Robasta (second choice) and Mythical Molly all come into the reckoning. Ramon Di Loria(nap) may still have a bit more to come for this yard though and he should appreciate the return to 6f having found himself with plenty to do over 5f last time. Similarly patient tactics over this trip could pay dividends.
Paul Smith

Newmarket

5.20: Value Theory

This race has an unusual look to it, seeing as hardly any of them bring recent form of any merit. Last week's Newmarket winner Value Theory(nap) is therefore given the vote in her hat-trick bid. Charlie Appleby's lightly raced 3yo Stormy Ocean is arguably the most plausible danger, though rather by default as he has not raced since March. Colour Image, Leuven Power and last year's winner Turntable are among those who are pretty useful on their day.
Richard Austen

Worcester

3.40: San Giovanni

The three at the head of the weights are all on lower marks than their ratings over fences and have possibilities. Ocean Line and Pop The Champagne are high on the list but this valuable prize can go to San Giovanni(nap), who has got his act together as a hurdler.
