Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's seven meetings
Newbury, Nottingham, Newmarket, Thirsk, Wolverhampton, Cork and Tramore
Friday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team
Cork
6.00: Mutasarref
This can go the way of Mutasarref who seems to be improving with every run and he's probably a bit better than Listed class. Last year's winner Snapraeterea could have a say if he's fully tuned up for his belated return. Cigamia gained a first win in Listed class last time and should be in the mix if she continues to progress. Phill Anderson
Newbury
3.10: Maylandsea
Returned to Listed grade, Queen Mary runner-up Maylandsea
should be hard to beat if giving her true running. That was most definitely not the case when the step up to 6f completely backfired at Newmarket and that blip can be readily forgiven. The next best is Minnetonka, for whom this sharper test is worth exploring. Of the rest, Katey Kontent could be threatening having rested since Royal Ascot and Funny Story is dangerously unexposed. Alistair Jones
Newmarket
5.45: Counsel
Top of the list is the Gosdens' lightly raced 4yo Counsel, who came good when trouncing his rivals in a 7f AW novice at Lingfield last month. He looks well treated if he can match that form back in a handicap and has shaped as though this switch to sprinting could suit. Wajd resumed her progress when forging clear over C&D two weeks ago and she's feared most, ahead of Prince Of Bel Lir and Equiano Springs. David Moon
Nottingham
1.45: No Guts No Glory
This can go to No Guts No Glory, who has produced two very encouraging seconds this summer and is slightly ahead of the handicapper here. Ubahha fluffed the start when a warm favourite at Leicester on Sunday but is a danger if judged on his earlier form. Porfin and Grandfather Tom should also feature. Chris Wilson
Tramore
4.50: Popong
She has run well in defeat in quality chases numerous times, including the Midlands National last time, so Popong gets the vote to prevail. Bacardys was well behind her in that event but will have more room to organise his jumping today, so can get closer. Tyrone Molloy
Thirsk
6.40: Jamih
Assuming that she's able to handle the fast ground, the relatively lightly raced Valley Of Flowers ought to play a prominent role in a weak and winnable contest. However, the safest option is the bang-in-form Jamih, who had both Glan Y Gors and the longstanding maiden O'Reilly's Pass behind when narrowly denied over C&D last week. Mark Rowntree
Wolverhampton
2.10: Eldeyaar
The question with Salisbury winner Thank The Lord is whether the visor will work as well this time, but if it does he is a player off just 2lb higher. However, the vote goes to Eldeyaar who has run some good races on Tapeta and the form of his latest Southwell third has already been franked. The unexposed Chester Le Streak has shown more since going handicapping and could play a part if taking to the AW at the first time of asking. David Bellingham
