Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's seven meetings

Friday tips from Bath, Catterick, Goodwood, Haydock, Worcester and more

Friday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team

Bath

1.20: Sarah's Verse

This can go to Sarah's Verse (nap), who looks progressive enough to defy a penalty and rain won't hinder her chances. Bluebell Time could be the main threat, while Victory Rose can go well provided the ground doesn't get too wet and Marietty is dangerously unexposed.
Alistair Jones

Catterick

7.50: Ehrmann

Everything points to a big run from Ehrmann (nap), who turned in an improved effort on only his fourth attempt when second over this C&D last week (will be 3lb higher in future) and he has no problems with soft ground. He's capable of better and is taken to beat Pavers Pride and Soul Seeker.
Richard Young

Downpatrick

5.20: On The Sod

A pretty interesting race with Tipperary winner Sliabh Mhuire Lass and La Touche runner-up Michael's Pick coming here in fine form. Big Leg Up showed his liking for this track in March before running respectably at Fairyhouse. The selection is On The Sod (nap), who was not up to the task in the Champion Hunters Chase at Punchestown but was still in front when falling at Fairyhouse and should appreciate the drop in class.

Goodwood

2:15: Talbeyah

The well-bred Talbeyah (nap) bolted up in a Chepstow novice last month and, while this race is considerably tougher, there's substance to that form as the runner-up went one better next time and the third has since gone close. She is preferred to Ready To Venture, who has shown solid form over 7f and 1m and promises to be suited by this step up in trip. Lady Hayes and Nash Nasha represent leading stables and retain potential.
Ben Hutton

Haydock

4.25: Downsman

Wink Of An Eye made up plenty of ground in the closing stages to take second on his handicap debut at Goodwood and he's greatly respected with the slower ground unlikely to bother him. The Bravest and Dr T J Eckleburg can have a case argued but Downsman (nap) may be the answer. He carried his head awkwardly in the closing stages when second at Salisbury last week but it was the first time he'd been in serious contention and perhaps it was still greenness. That represented a significant improvement from him and he should be fine over this shorter trip, especially if the rain arrives. He can take this before his revised mark comes into force at the weekend.
Paul Smith

Wexford

7.30: Trixie Mc

Despite her rider reporting that she never travelled at Kilbeggan a week ago, Trixie Mc (nap) did really well to finish a clear third, and back on her favoured soft ground off an unchanged mark makes plenty of appeal here under the in-form Darragh O'Keeffe. Chrisaldy is a potential improver now back in trip with a hood fitted, while Let Her Flow could be interesting on her first start for Matthew Smith.
Alan Hewison

Worcester

6.40: Rock On Rocco

The vote goes to the lightly raced seven-year-old Rock On Rocco (nap), who got his act together over fences with a comfortable win at Ludlow in March and is open to further progress in this sphere. Recent Warwick winner Hazzaar is feared most on his step back up in trip, though Do Wanna Know was a good second in a similar race at Southwell 17 days ago and is a big player if he can back that up.
