Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's seven meetings

Monday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team

Wolverhampton

4.11: Candescence

There should be plenty of pace on here and that would be to the benefit of recent C&D winner Sarah's Verse, who seems likely to go well again off 2lb higher. However, the vote goes to Candescence (nap) who was returning from 225 days off when beaten a head here last month and can step forward from that with Adam Kirby in the saddle. Chief Little Hawk has suggested he has a bigger effort in him so is worth a second look.
David Bellingham

Plumpton

3.27: Mickyh

Preference is for Mickyh (nap), who made it 2-6 in handicaps with a game win in first-time blinkers at Stratford last Sunday and is open to more improvement. Good Time Ahead and Tommy Dillion are feared most in that order, while another to keep an eye on is the very lightly raced Wells Glory, who has had wind surgery and looks a possible improver on his handicap debut.
David Moon

Kempton

4.40: Pensiero D'Amore

The unexposed pair Rainbow Fire and Raajil remain open to further progress, while Notre Belle Bete should be suited by the return to the AW (2-2). However, this can go to Pensiero D'Amore (nap) who made a successful AW debut over C&D 19 days ago. He only won by a head, but took that race with more in hand than the margin suggests and remains open to further improvement on artificial surfaces.
David Bellingham

Huntingdon

3.40: Coolnaugh Haze

Preference is for Coolnaugh Haze (nap) whose latest Ludlow conqueror is well served by a test of speed round there. Jeremy The Jinn brings momentum into his handicap debut and Stokes also has claims.
Alistair Jones

Redcar

3.24: Il Bandito

After an encouraging stable debut over 1m on this course, Il Bandito (nap) could be ready to strike, with the shorter trip expected to be in his favour. Broken Spear was a few places behind him last time and is another to consider, but the main threat may prove to be last year's winner Danielsflyer who might have been targeted at this race again. Mossbawn, an improver in 2021, has to be respected on his reappearance, while Mutanaaseq has each-way claims despite unpromising form figures.
Richard O'Brien

Fakenham

2.45: Red Royalist

This is a drop in grade from the races Potters Hedger has been running in but if Red Royalist (nap) gets round in one piece Lucy Wadham's 10yo will do well to outspeed the selection over this inadequate trip. Red Royalist ran well in a 0-90 on the AW last time and has plenty going for him back over hurdles on the good ground that suits. Cousin Oscar is third on the list ahead of Equus Millar and Rapaport.
Emily Weber

Chepstow

5.30: Abaya Du Mathan

David Pipe's 10yo Abaya Du Mathan (nap) pulled a long way clear of the others with a dual subsequent winner at Wincanton last month and won easily off the same mark at Ffos Las a few days later. He's 10lb higher now but still makes strong appeal. Lermoos Legend was in excellent form last spring/summer but this is his first run for nine months and a bigger threat to the selection might come from Do It For Thy Sen.
