Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's five meetings

Thursday tips from Thurles, Newbury, Ludlow, Sedgefield and Chelmsford

Thursday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team

Chelmsford

4.55: Living Legend

The signs look good for LIVING LEGEND (nap) who produced a career-best performance on turf last time, still has low mileage, may well improve further and has a record of 2-2 on AW. He's taken to defy a 7lb rise, possibly at the main expense of Lucander who ran creditably in a competitive field at York last month. Power Of States and Habit Rouge are also respected at a venue that suits them well.
Steve Boow

Ludlow

1.05: Muse Of Fire

In front when tipping up four out on this course last December, MUSE OF FIRE (nap) races off a 7lb lower mark and can build on an encouraging reappearance. He gets the vote ahead of chasing debutant Judex Lefou, another with a better chance than his recent form figures might suggest. Monday's Hereford winner Obey The Rules and Chapati complete the shortlist.
Richard O'Brien

Newbury

2.30: The unexposed six-year-old ONE FOR YOU (nap) won his first two handicaps in March and can continue his progressive ways by landing the hat-trick from the foot of the weights. Spiritofthegames ran well when eighth in the final of this series at Cheltenham in March and goes well fresh, and he's second choice ahead of the progressive C&D winner Polish. Didtheyleaveuoutto is also considered, along with Dell' Arca who won this in 2017 and last year.
Ben Hutton

Sedgefield

3.20: Baron De Midleton

Heartbreak Kid and Frimeur De Lancray can both be dangerous off their current marks if back on song, while Sounds Russian is very lightly raced and looks a good chasing prospect. However, the one to beat is BARON DE MIDLETON (nap), who was out of the weights when second over C&D last month and looks well handicapped off his correct mark.
Chris Wilson

Thurles

12.45: Defan

Listowel winner DEFAN (nap) is from a top stable and the youngest runner here, two reasons why he may prove more progressive than his rivals. Golden Jewel lacks a recent run but is well treated relative to his hurdles form, a remark that also applies to Fine Brunello. The lightly-weighted Ricky Langford is another to consider.
Alan Sweetman
