Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's eight meetings
Friday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team
Carlisle
4.56: Molinari
Last year's winner MOLINARI (nap) has been better than ever this season and can land a hat-trick on the back of wins at Beverley and York. Innse Gall has shown strong C&D form this term and is second choice ahead of five-time course winner Detective, who also won here last time out.
Ben Hutton
Kilbeggan
6.10: Run For Pat
A maiden hurdle which may not take too much winning and possibly a good opportunity for RUN FOR PAT (nap). Its Vango could well appreciate this step up in trip, while Valley Breeze faces a lesser task than at Galway but could struggle over this extended trip if not settling.
Alan Hewison
Killarney
6.55: Smitty Bacall
It may pay dividends to side with the veteran SMITTY BACALL (nap) who looked back to his old self at Tramore last Sunday. A repeat bid of that run should have him right in the frame here. Mica Malpic is in good form this season and is likely to play another leading role. Presenting Cody is another to keep an eye on, as is Union Park, while Name Me Famous is interesting off an 18lb lower chase mark.
Brian Dowling
Newbury
3.20: Wagga Wagga
From a family that improves with age, there's good reason to believe that hat-trick seeker WAGGA WAGGA (nap) has a lot more to offer. Jalea Moon is another progressive sort who should make a race of it and Meleri is another with solid claims.

Newcastle
6.29: Simply Sondheim
Half of the field are lightly raced 3yos and they may have this between them. Chimed is very well treated if he can reproduce the form he showed when second at Windsor in April but that is starting to look a very big 'if'. Bruno's Gold may respond to the first-time headgear but SIMPLY SONDHEIM (nap) is fancied to continue on his upward curve. He wasn't impressive at Goodwood when last seen but the form has been boosted and it was his fourth run in quick succession. Ten weeks off may have freshened him up and there could be more in the locker.
Paul Smith
Salisbury
7.10: Nine Dragons
Stubble Field looked suited by the move up to 1m when placed at Newmarket last month and might be aided by the first-time cheekpieces here but preference is for NINE DRAGONS (nap), who didn't run badly when a beaten favourite on his recent handicap debut and probably still has potential. Codify is next on the list.
Chris Wilson
Wolverhampton
8.25: Asraabb
Top of the list is Roger Varian's well-bred filly ASRAABB (nap), who found improvement with her clearcut win at Chelmsford ten days ago and is a major player again under a penalty in her bid to make it 2-2 in handicaps. Most of the others have something to prove, but Young Winston went close at Yarmouth last time and could pose a serious threat if he can back that up for his new yard.
David Moon
York
3.00: Marshman
The engrossing rematch between Royal Scotsman and Noble Style could go either way, as the former has progressed tremendously since they met at Ascot in May and the latter remains a serious Group prospect having followed up at Newmarket three weeks ago. They are leading players on the figures and command equal respect but a strong rival has suddenly emerged in the shape of MARSHMAN (nap), who jumped firmly into the Gimcrack picture with his big performance at Thirsk last Friday. The manner of that win suggests he's in blinding form right now and well up to making his mark at this level, with further progress on the cards. The shortlist is completed by Clearpoint who, like Noble Style and Marshman, is two from two. He's second choice from a punting perspective.
