Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's eight meetings

Friday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team

Ascot

4.15: Carnival Zain

Global Esteem is respected on his return to 7f on a track that suits but Carnival Zain looked full of confidence when breezing home under Becky Smith at Chester and, as he was a 1m winner earlier in the year, this stiffer test should be within his scope. Alazwar is intriguing now he's dropped to 7f for his handicap debut and he should give it a good shot from the front but last year's winner Spirited Guest has more to prove after a lifeless recent run.

Chepstow

8.05: Amor De Mi Vida

Improved mare Rhubarb has already won three times here this season and is not opposed lightly but Amor De Mi Vida looked back at her best when winning in good style at Haydock on Saturday and is taken to provide Taylor Fisher with his first winner under rules. Admirably consistent 3yo Fair And Square is likely to be right in the thick of things once again.

Cork

7.15: Are We Dreaming

There was plenty to like about Are We Dreaming's impressive success at the Curragh on Sunday and an 11lb rise might not be enough to stop this filly going in again. Only Spoofing wasn't far behind the selection and can give another good account but the well handicapped Shabaaby might be the main danger this time after getting his head back in front last month.
Phill Anderson

Down Royal

6.00: Kilanova

A breakthrough win for Kilanova is on the cards following clear signs of improvement on her two most recent outings. A good case can be made for Fine Distraction despite his status as a 30-race maiden. Empress Of Bough could be nicely treated for her first handicap and has prospects under the 10lb claimer who rode her into third place at Fairyhouse. Hot Whispers seems to be improving.
Alan Sweetman

Newmarket

6.40: Laguna Veneta

Punda Maria is 9lb better off with Laguna Veneta from Leicester last month and is entitled at least to close the gap, but she's since been turned over as favourite in a weak AW handicap, while the selection confirmed herself on the upgrade off her revised mark at Bath. Naadyaa still has a bit pf potential for her new yard but she'll need to settle better, again going without the hood.
Graham Wheldon

Thirsk

4.00: Woodlands Charm

The unexposed Pink Crystal is sure to be popular on her turf debut having been left with plenty to do at Wolverhampton last time. She's up against a tough opponent in Woodlands Charm though and Nigel Tinkler's filly can take another step up the sprinting ladder.
Paul Smith

Uttoxeter

2.10: Aviewtosea

Tedham (second choice) surged back to form at Worcester and is now seriously well handicapped, while Port O'Clock is another to consider. However, Aviewtosea made the ideal start to his chasing career over C&D and is taken to continue the good work.
Jonathan Neesom

York

8.25: Beauzon

Several have potential, including Beauzon who showed good form on the AW before his break and had an easier time of it than Texas Man when an encouraging third at Redcar in June. He again failed to show his best form when drawn high at Chester since but he acts well on fast ground and has better days to come. The main danger can come from Prodigious Blue who has been getting his eye in over 5f of late and will be suited by the likely strong pace. Nomasee and Motashaweq are among several others who can be given a fighting chance.
