Monday's free racing tips: Racing Post experts share their best bets

Handicappers' nap

Griggy (7.45 Newcastle)

Still a maiden but his best all-weather performance came over course and distance. Worth chancing down in grade.

Newmarket nap

Ardiente (2.30 Kempton)

Unlucky not to defy a penalty on the July course in the summer, Ed Vaughan's filly is fit from some recent work on the Al Bahathri.
David Milnes

Eyecatcher

Carpool (4.20 Hereford)

Backed up the improvement she showed at Bangor and might have laid down a more serious challenge to the winner last time had she kept closer tabs on her from the outset. A powerful traveller who could benefit from more strongly run races in handicaps.

Ace Tipster

Not Never (2.40 Plumpton)

Chase winner two starts back but has a good strike-rate over hurdles and has won his last two starts here.
Paul Kealy

Speed figures

Diamond Oasis (3.00 Kempton)

Has changed stables since her last appearance in April and can begin to make up for lost time by winning for her new trainer.
Dave Edwards

Spotlights nap

Colonel Slade (2.00 Kempton)

Progressive, front-running three-year-old who is two-from-two since coming back from wind surgery and joining this trainer. Up 7lb for his latest win but strong likelihood of further progress.

Dark horse

Trans Express (2.40 Plumpton)

Could have fitness edge over some of his rivals and was far from disgraced in a warm Cheltenham handicap last weekend. Trip and ground are fine and pick of his efforts gives him stronger claims than price indicates.
Gavin Beech

Must-have stat of the day

Charlie Appleby is 13-26 with his non-handicap two-year-olds at Kempton in the last three seasons, improving to 12-16 if they are sent off favourite. Power Of Time looks worth a market check in the 7f maiden at 3.30.
