Nansaroy was running well enough when departing at the 13th to suggest he is well treated.
True, the market leader would have done well to beat the deeply impressive winner Ramses De Teillee, who bolted up by 17 lengths, but Mitch Bastyan’s mount was going well in a share of second when blundering out of the race.
Although yet to win in eight attempts over fences, this capable seven-year-old has raced against strong opposition and was always likely to improve on this first start in 193 days.
