Mirage proves Thorntoun Care finish was not all that it seemed

It took Thorntoun Care a while to find his stride in the 1m4f handicap at Pontefract but it did appear he had done so in time to collar Regal Mirage in the final stride and it wasn't a surprise to find he was backed at 1.04 on Betfair. However, the photo proved otherwise, showing the favourite had hung on after trading at 30.

Correggio was backed down to 1.25 in the 1m2f handicap at Pontefract, but was never nearer than at the line and had to settle for a half-length second to Beverley Bullet.

In a slow-motion conclusion to the 3m handicap chase at Uttoxeter, Lost Legend (1.04) probably found himself in front too long and was worn down in the final strides by Kinari, who was matched at 46.
