Roughly two years ago I put up Milsean in this column as a long-range poke for the Albert Bartlett.

He had impressed in his bumper days, winning a Limerick event by 25 lengths, and he looked every inch a stayer so it seemed the obvious race for him should his hurdling career go smoothly.

It didn't go entirely smoothly, however. After a long odds-on win at Navan he was beaten at odds-on in his two pre-festival runs and didn't look as though he was a Cheltenham winner waiting to happen.
