Mecca's leaves 1.26 Limato in her wake

Barsanti was done at a high-looking 200 in running on Betfair on his way to toughing it out in the 1m4f handicap. Moonmeister (1.31) and Shakopee (1.32) both had their chances but didn’t see it out as well as the winner.

There was a similar finish to the following Group 2 Lonsdale Cup, in which Quest For More (18) gamely made all, holding off late challenges from Pallasator (1.26) and Wicklow Brave (1.26), who has finished second or third on seven of his last nine starts and has become a bit of a thinker.

The big surprise from an in-running viewpoint was that heavily backed favourite Limato went as low as 1.26, despite never getting close to the winner.

Irish Hawke was backed at 150 before wearing down Our Three Sons (1.17) in the novice handicap hurdle at Bangor.
