Mostly trappy handicaps await punters at Galway today for what is traditionally the best attended of the three evenings at the festival, but there appears to be opportunities in at least three of them to ensure a profitable evening.

Tony Martin's Galway usually gets into gear in the second half of the week and his Heartbreak City appears to have an excellent chance of taking the opening Guinness Handicap Hurdle (5.10).

He is in effect handicapped out of anything on the Flat following his wide-margin win on heavy ground at Cork in March, but his hurdles mark looks much more competitive. His narrow success in a maiden hurdle at Tipperary in May didn't look anything to write home about at the time, but runner-up Mai Fitzs Jack has since bolted up, while third home Bitview Colin has also won a maiden hurdle and has acquitted himself very well in competitive handicaps. With Galway Plate-winning rider Donagh Meyler on board, Heartbreak City is likely to take plenty of beating.
