Logical approach may find Dundalk nursery winner
Irish-born George Boole was one of the great mathematicians of the 19th century, renowned for his work on algebraic logic and differential equations. One wonders what this brilliant mind might have made of the complexities of Dundalk handicaps, which invariably present serious problems to punters, in large part due to a significant overlap of form lines among regular participants.
This is particularly the case with older horses who have been involved in frequent renewal of rivalries at the venue. Where juveniles such as the equine George Boole are concerned, things are perhaps a little more straightforward, as there is not as much data to process. The John Murphy-trained Art Connoisseur colt has a claim as the logical choice for Friday's nursery (7.05) based on his head second to Little Miss Willow in his first handicap at the venue four weeks ago.
His staying-on effort suggests the extra furlong will play to his strengths. With any luck, he will confirm his marginal superiority over the lightly weighted Milish, who was another head behind in third. Back in fourth was another of today's rivals Fox Dream, but perhaps the main danger is the experienced Magnification.
