Lingfield Placepot picks: Paul Kealy has a crack at the £250k guaranteed pool

There's a good competitive card at Lingfield for what is now day one of their Winter Million meeting, but it starts with a Class 5 and a fairly warm favourite.

has a lot more on his plate than last time as he's 13lb higher under his penalty, but he did win with a lot in hand. He has had only six career starts, so I'm happy enough to bank on him making the first three, especially given the extra yardage as he was powering clear over 1m6f last time.

The front two in the betting for the next (12.27), Huberts Dream and Pocket The Packet, have improved significantly over the last few months.

This looks a better heat than they've been winning, though, and preference is for and , who also look to be progressing as well.

The next (1.02) is the weakest race on the card in terms of class, but is a very hard puzzle.

appeals as improving at a low level, and he goes in with , who might appreciate going back up to a mile after staying on well over 7f last time.

In the fourth (1.37), , who cost 650,000gns as a yearling, looks a shrewd purchase for George Boughey given the way he scored last time. A handicap mark of 80 should not be beyond him and he's worth banking on.

In leg five (2.12), James Tate's has the look of an improver. If the first-time hood helps him settle a bit better he could be the one to beat.

has been in good form and can go well for Amy Murphy too.

That just leaves the feature Winter Oaks (2.47), in which is fancied to serve it up to . The latter did look miles ahead of her mark last time, though, and is impossible to leave out despite the 11lb rise.
