Late action speaks loud for Words

Lady Joanna Vassa was done at 1.03 on Betfair after going clear 2f out in the 5f handicap at Catterick, but she was treading water close home and Perfect Words nailed her in the final stride after trading at 48.

Trumps Up defied a big pre-race drift - 11 to 22 - to make a winning debut for Mick Channon in the novice stakes at Leicester.

Newcomer Three Saints Bay appeared to be coming to win the 7f novice stakes at Catterick and was backed down to 1.08, but the twice-raced Shrewd Approach (18) saw it out better in the ground.
