Kempton Placepot tips: Graeme Rodway with his perm for the jumps fixture

There are small fields at Kempton, but it’s quality over quantity and the Placepot could pay.

Sarceaux is one of my best bets of the day in the opening 2m mares’ handicap hurdle (1.10), but only two places are on offer, so it might be worth including Yauthym as the back-up.

Only six are declared in the 3m novice handicap chase (1.45), so it’s another two-place race. However, Bangers And Cash is my banker of the day and can follow up his Taunton victory.

The 2m5f novice hurdle (2.20) looks tricky, but Cap St Vincent is probably the solid option. He was useful over fences for Tim Vaughan, goes well fresh and has had wind surgery in preparation for his debut for Fergal O’Brien. If Cap St Vincent is right, he will probably win.

The winner will be needed in the 2m2f novice handicap chase (2.55). Take a chance and kick out well-fancied Elixir De Nutz in favour of Across The Line, Paddys Motorbike and Fred.

The 2m5f handicap hurdle (3.30) is more competitive. Getthepot likes decent ground and has a chance on his best form, while Major Sting is unexposed for Nicky Henderson’s top stable.

Flegmatik was a good third over course and distance last time and appeals in the 3m handicap chase (4.05). Mellow Ben also goes well at this track and could prove the best alternative.
