Justin O'Hanlon believes it could pay to take on Tiger Roll at Navan
The first division of the Get Your 2020 Navan Membership Maiden Hurdle (1.20) looks a tricky way to start the meeting, but the two to focus on are Joshua Webb and Jungle Junction.
Joshua Webb has run well in a couple of 2m4f maiden hurdles on his most recent outings, while Jungle Junction shaped well on his hurdles debut at Leopardstown over Christmas.
Everyone is coming to see Tiger Roll in his bid for back-to-back victories in the Ladbrokes Ireland Boyne Hurdle (1.50), but given his trainer's concern that he will need the run, it might be wise to swerve him.
Kilfenora looked every inch a Graded hurdler when carrying a big weight to victory in a Grade B handicap hurdle here last month and has to be included. While, it's also worth putting in Grand National runner-up Magic Of Light. She produced one of her best performances over hurdles in a Grade 2 at Ascot last month and looks ready for another bold showing.
The second division of the maiden hurdle (2.20) looks pretty weak and Francin who put up a decent effort in a 2m4f maiden hurdle at Leopardstown over Christmas, has crystal clear claims.
Also include Pure Genius, who would not have to improve much on his third in a maiden hurdle here before Christmas to have a big shout.
The Kevin Brady Car Sales Mares Handicap Hurdle (2.55) is one of the most open races of the day and it's a difficult one to narrow down.
The consistent Bay Ambition likes this ground and was in the process of running a big race when falling two out here in December. Blanketontheground is progressive and her second to Our Roxane at Gowran last month makes good reading if the step up in trip suits. While My Club Colours was a very comfortable winner of a similar contest at Punchestown and should go close to defying her penalty.
Another tough race to solve is the following navanadventurecentre.ie Handicap Hurdle (3.30), so we will include another trio of runners.
Thunder Down Under should not be far away, neither should Oh'herewego on his close second in a 2m6f handicap hurdle here in November with the stable among the winners last weekend. Difficult Decision relishes this soft ground and should go close in his bid for a hat-trick of victories.
The Grade 2 Ten Up Novice Chase (4.00) is an interesting contest and Minella Fair might be hard to beat if reproducing his third in the Thyestes Chase. If he fails to do so Speak Easy looks the one with most to offer.
