Jockey could have made right call with improving hurdler

Chepstow's early cancellation on Thursday means there is just one meeting for jumps fans to get stuck into as the rest of the cards in Britain and Ireland take place on the Flat at Kempton, Lingfield and Dundalk.

That's good news for those who like the sand - and there are plenty who do - but I can't pretend to spend much time watching it during the winter when there are obstacles to be jumped and thankfully Catterick puts on a really competitive card.

The features are two qualifiers for the Challenger Series, a really good initiative aimed at giving mid-tier horses a shot at running for some decent prize-money on finals day at Haydock over Easter.
