THERE are plenty of solid-looking favourites in the big races on Channel 4 this afternoon for those looking to beef up the betting bank for the always difficult Ebor festival at York next week and they include Orion's Bow in the most competitive heat of the day, the William Hill Great St Wilfrid (3.55) at Ripon.

It's easy enough to argue the 9-2 about David Nicholls' five-year-old is perfectly fair given his only defeat in his last six came to Sprint Cup-bound Dancing Star in the Stewards' Cup last time out.

If there is a negative it's that a draw in stall nine that will put Barry McHugh in a quandary as to which side to go in a race that invariably sees the runners split into two groups with the centre of the track all but ignored.
