I have lost count of the number of times I have attended Epsom’s Derby trial meeting – one of the best days out in racing when the sun is shining – although I do recall it has not been a happy stomping ground on the punting front, probably because it always involves lots of alcohol. Today’s card does not look any easier, but hopefully there will be an upturn in fortune now booze is not around to cloud my judgement.
