The Big Doyen was a classy bumper performer last season, winning his first two outings before being pitched against the mighty Facile Vega in a Grade 2 event at the Dublin Racing Festival. He disappointed there but is still quite an exciting recruit to hurdles.
The problem for the Peter Fahey-trained five-year-old is that he must give 8lb to The Short Go on his jumping debut in this 2m½f maiden hurdle, which means he will probably have to run a mark in the high 130s. That is a big ask.
