Hurricane initiates terrific day for De Sousa

Several runners loomed up appearing big dangers to the ridden-along Munfallet in the 6f handicap at Chepstow, but he kept finding after being headed and rallied to regain the lead close home after trading at 180 in running on Betfair. More than £2,000 was matched at 1.19 on the third home Pixeleen.

Silvestre de Sousa initiated a terrific four-timer at Epsom on Hurricane Rush in the auction maiden, getting the better of main title rival Jim Crowley on Firefright, who was backed down to 1.17. Goodwood Zodiac, who completed the four-strong haul, was De Sousa's eighth win from just 25 rides for William Knight in the last five seasons.

Despite proving difficult to load in the second division of the 7f handicap at Chepstow, Poor Duke came home well under Martin Dwyer to reward backers who were on him at as high as 60.
