Hong Kong racing tips: Jim McGrath with three fancies on Sunday's Sha Tin card
Joyful Fortune
8.35 Sha Tin
2pts win
Touch Of Luck
9.10 Sha Tin
2pts win
Will Power
9.45 Sha Tin
2pts win
Trainer Douglas Whyte looks to be running into form as he approaches this pre-international week Sha Tin card, for which the dirt track will be in use for six of the ten races.
It is a good opportunity for the growing group of all-weather stars, and Whyte's stable houses two specialists in Touch Of Luck and Will Power, who can both win.
Touch Of Luck can make the most of a drop in grade in the Class 3 handicap (9.10) over an extended mile on only his fourth start for Whyte, who has engaged his 7lb claimer Jerry Chau (currently fifth in the jockeys' championship).
Touch Of Luck, twice a course-and-distance winner, has most to fear from the consistent Party Everyday, who has not finished out of the first three in his last eight starts but now steps up in class, while Joao Moreira's mount Skyey Supreme warrants respect.
Whyte has sent out just ten winners this season, with only two last month, but there are signs his horses are running well again and Will Power is the form pick in the finale, the Class 2 6f sprint handicap (9.45).
A New Zealand-bred son of Power, Will Power has recorded five course-and-distance wins from nine starts, and his rise through the ranks shows no sign of stopping, particularly with regular partner Karis Teetan aboard. The in-form Guy Dragon looks next best.
In the turf races, it may pay to give the David Hall-trained Joyful Fortune another chance in the Class 3 5f sprint handicap (8.35). He started long odds-on in a similar contest three weeks ago but was overpowered late on. He is another fine opportunity for Chau, who is proving great value for his claim.
Bets can be placed into Hong Kong pools with the Tote, Coral and Ladbrokes. The first race at Sha Tin onSunday is at 5am
