Hereford Placepot picks: Richard Birch with his perm for the jumps card

Lily Glitters, winner of the race 12 months ago, stands out in the conditional and amateur jockeys’ handicap hurdle (12.20), the first leg of the Placepot at Hereford.

The Henry Daly-trained mare ran a blinder first time out at Bangor last Tuesday and just a reproduction of that performance can see her retain her crown.

Marble Sands, runner-up to highly regarded Paul Nicholls winner Complete Unknown at Sandown in March, and the Nicky Henderson-trained bumper scorer King Alexander are the pair to focus on in the maiden hurdle (12.55).

Princess Midnight has enjoyed an excellent spell on summer ground and it would be no surprise if Joe Tizzard could squeeze another win out of her in the mares’ handicap chase (1.25).

Dancing Dani, who shaped nicely at left-handed Ffos Las, might well be better suited by right-handed Hereford and enters the argument.

Princess T catches the eye in the mares’ handicap hurdle (2.00), while prolific winner Midnight Jewel, still in front when falling at the final fence at Stratford last time, is likely to prove hard to catch around a track which suits front-runners in the novice handicap chase (2.45).

Kingston Sunflower and Stroll On By are selected in the novice hurdle (3.10).
